The book, as I find with all installments of the City Watch series, is exploding with flavor and insightful comedy, but I can't shake off the bad taste the rushed pace left in my mouth. It would have been even better if only the narrative took its time to develop certain aspects that were instead left in the dust cloud behind Vimes' chase.

what a weird time that must have been for Vetinari. i'm not sure i'm 100% on board with this one, which is unusual for me, coz normally i like watch books a lot, but i think the fact that even Vimes wasn't really able to solve anything, and that it took an incredibly smart and savvy politician to end things, and even that really didn't prevent the war, is just a little too realistic for me. we don't have a Vetinari irl, we don't even have a Vimes, so i think Jingo just reminded me of how much society sucks rn? but the whole thing with Colon and Nobby and Vetinari was absolutely hilarious, and even 71 Hour Ahmed grew on me, so all in all, a solid Watch book.
