Wells's transparent commentary on the capitalist society was an instant bestseller and launched the time-travel genre.
HG Wells was truly visionary. Almost written for the silver screen, this holds up well by today's standards though fails a bechdel test. Left me wondering indeed what the future may hold, but probably not cannibalism communism
This is my first time reading H. G. Wells, and I'm very surprised by how modern some of the themes are. It's almost like I can trace a direct lineage between a 130-year-old book and The Backrooms.
